Individual Subscriber Terms and Conditions – Politics Online

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the basis on which Politics Online Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides subscriptions to individual subscribers (“you”, “your”). By subscribing to Politics Online, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Our platform is hosted securely in the UK by Krystal Hosting and operated on WordPress.

- Eligibility and Age Restrictions
- Subscriptions are available only to individuals aged 16 and over.
- If you are under 16, you may only use the platform if a parent, guardian, or school has provided verified consent.
- By subscribing, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
- Content is designed for A Level Politics students. Use beyond this age group is not recommended, and consequences from underage use are the sole responsibility of the subscriber.
- Subscriptions and Licence
- A subscription provides a personal, non-transferable licence to access Politics Online during the subscription period.
- Each account is for one individual subscriber only. Account sharing is prohibited.
- All content is for personal study and educational use. Copying, distribution, resale, or commercial exploitation is prohibited.
- Data Protection and Privacy
- We are committed to compliance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Children’s Code (Age-Appropriate Design Code).
- We act as the data controller for personal data you provide.
- Data collected may include your name, email address, login information, analytics, and IP-based geolocation.
- Data is stored securely on servers hosted in the UK by Krystal Hosting.
- Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy form part of these Terms.
- User Responsibilities and Acceptable Use
5.1 Subscriber Responsibilities
Subscribers must:
- Provide accurate registration details.
- Maintain the confidentiality of login credentials.
- Accept full responsibility for ensuring compliance with these Terms.
5.2 Prohibited Use
Subscribers must not:
- Share login details with others or provide access to non-subscribers.
- Upload, share, or distribute unlawful, inappropriate, or defamatory content.
- Misrepresent themselves or their affiliation.
- Plagiarise or infringe intellectual property rights.
- Copy, adapt, or redistribute Politics Online content without prior permission.
- Reverse engineer, hack, or attempt to circumvent platform security.
- Share materials on public forums or unauthorised platforms.
- Use the platform for unauthorised commercial purposes.
5.3 Monitoring and Enforcement
- We reserve the right to monitor account activity to ensure compliance.
- Accounts may be suspended during investigation of suspected misuse.
- Confirmed violations may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent termination without refund.
- Intellectual Property
- All content (including text, images, quizzes, videos, and resources) remains the property of Politics Online Limited or its licensors.
- Subscribers may not copy, reproduce, or distribute materials without prior written permission.
- If you believe content on the platform infringes copyright, you should notify us immediately at admin@politicsonline.co.uk with details of the infringement.
- Safeguarding and Child Protection
- The platform is intended for use by those aged 16+.
- Safeguarding measures include content monitoring and internal reporting processes.
- Any safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to admin@politicsonline.co.uk.
- Technical and Support Provisions
- System requirements: internet connection, modern web browser, internet-enabled device.
- Service availability: we aim to maintain 99.9% uptime. Scheduled maintenance will, where possible, be notified 48 hours in advance.
- Support: available by email at admin@politicsonline.co.uk.
- Payment, Cooling-Off Period, and Refunds
- Subscription fees are payable in advance through Stripe or PayPal. We do not store card data.
- As required by UK law, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase. If you access the service during this period, you agree that digital content has been supplied and you may lose your right to cancel.
- After the cooling-off period, no refunds are provided except where legally required.
- Subscriptions may be offered on annual or multi-year terms. If auto-renewal is enabled, you will be notified in advance and may cancel before renewal.
- Termination
We may suspend or terminate your subscription without refund if:
- Payment fails or is reversed.
- You breach these Terms.
- Your account is misused (including account sharing, fraudulent use, or suspicious activity such as multiple logins from unusual locations).
- Your use poses a compliance, security, or safeguarding risk.
You may terminate at any time, but refunds will only be given as set out in Section 9.
- Liability and Indemnity
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of data, academic results, or reputational harm.
- We are not liable for unauthorised access caused by subscriber negligence.
- Our total liability shall not exceed the total subscription fee paid by you.
- You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from misuse of your account.
- Force Majeure
We shall not be held liable for failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to cyber-attacks, government restrictions, power failures, or acts of God.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance
- We comply with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Children’s Code.
- The platform is designed with high privacy settings and age-appropriate safeguards.
- Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. Subscribers will be notified of significant changes by email and on our website. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
- Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve disputes.
- Marketing Preferences
- We may send service-related communications which are not subject to opt-out.
- Marketing emails require prior consent and may be opted out at any time by unsubscribing or contacting us.
